Chief Information Officer

The Chief Information Officer is a full-time, permanent position based in Halifax, NS, reporting to the Managing Director. In this position the CIO will be developing and implementing the company’s IT strategy in alignment with Global, Regional and Local business goals and objectives. Leading digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience and business growth according to the local BU strategy. This role also oversees IT operations management, including Infrastructure, applications (Solution Architects), cybersecurity, data management team and Service Desk Team. The CIO will be collaborating with the Senior Manager's leadership to identify and prioritize technology initiatives that drive and add business values.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company and regional standards, industry standards, and best practices in IT governance and security in Canada
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the IT department and across the organization, while managing IT budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to regulate technology investments and performance
• Define and execute the Local BU’s IT roadmap, including system upgrades, integrations and new technology implementations
• Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures and regional and global standards to ensure data security, system reliability and work efficiency
• Lead and mentor the IT team, providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities
• Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure to support business operations 24x7
• Manage cybersecurity initiatives to protect the company’s data, systems and networks from threats and vulnerabilities
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement disaster recovery plans

Experience, Qualifications & Attributes

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Demonstrable experience as a Chief Information Officer (CIO), IT Director or similar leadership role with 5-15 years in IT management
• Proven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives and driving technology innovation in a multinational company environment
• Experience with cloud computing, data analytics and SaaS
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data management, data protection and service desk 24x7 practices
• Experience in project management
• Experience in Logistics companies’ business, container, maritime terminals
• Experience with robust environments (DB2, Oracle, TOS – Terminal Operational Systems)
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
• High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential information
